Marriage Custom in Poland

A classic Polish bride used to be a three or yet four time encounter. Generally, it was held outside in backyards, woodland and stables. They were a celebration of life and the wealth of dynamics. Now, however, many couples choose to omit the chapel and simply include a ceremony in their home or yard with close family and friends. They still enjoy the wonderful meal, song and vodka but it’s not quite what it once was.

On the night of the bride, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- evening wedding), comes the common service known as “oczepiny”, the opening of the bride. At this point, the shroud is removed and she dons her czepek – a cap worn by Polish angels to depict their standing as engaged females. This is also when the lengthy braids are unbraided and cut small, as a symbol of her changeover from heroine to femininity.

As the few leave the church, guests shower them with currencies and granules, to supply them luck and prosperity. They subsequently change into their party attire. It is also conventional to lob small, circular coins into the woman’s hair– whoever collects the most will be in charge of their finances.

The party begins, and you’ll discover a lot of dancing going on. Poles consider that this reduces the side effects of too much drinking. There will be a lot of food also, including lots of different types of cakes, snacks and ice cream.
